Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) can be utilized to assess skills and behaviors.  ABA can also be utilized teach new skills and improve skills that are of value to individuals.  

Individual Therapy can be provided to teach:

• Communication

• Academic Skills

• Social Skills

• Behavioral Skills

• Functional living skills

• Vocational Skills 

Assessments may be conducted to assess an individual's baseline level of skills, determine the function (or purpose) of challenging behavior, or to assess what skills a learner has and needs to be most successful in a given environment.

Assessments include:

• VB-MAPP: Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program

• ABLLS: Assessment of Basic Learning and Language Skills

• AFLS: Assessment of Functional Living Skills

• EFL: Essential for Living

• FBA: Functional Behavior Assessment

• Ecological Assessment 

When instruction and strategies are implemented in an individual's natural environment, skills may be more easily maintained and generalized.  

Training can be provided to those that most often interact with the individual in their home and community settings. 

Training can be provided on the following: 

• Communication instruction

• Behavioral strategies

• General learning strategies that best meet the needs of each individual can be provided to those who interact frequently with the individual 

Special education programs are an excellent resource for individual's with special needs. Navigating those programs can be complex.

Coaching can be provided to increase a caregiver's:

• Familiarity with the special education process 

• Understanding of ABA and other instructional methodologies 

• Comfort in assessing and navigating the educational tools that work best for their child

• Comfort with advocating for your learner's needs within a school system

Coaching may include:

• Training on the special education process

• Record review and assisting with an action plan 

• Accompanying families to school meetings 

• Observing a student at home and school 

• Drafting measurable IEP objectives and monitoring progress

• Reviewing data to assess progress
